Presents from Japan!

"When Gwen Gwen Tan promises, Gwen Gwen Tan delivers!"

Here are the stuff Daddy and Mommy bought for me from Japan that Ive promised to show you!

They are things that I don't fit just yet. But I trust Mommy's shopping taste and I believe they would make me really pretty!!!

(I keep my fingers crossed on the Elmo outfit and this bearbear hairband.)

Mommy regretted not buying the lamb, rabbit and panda versions of it.

(HENG AH!!!)

Pullovers for holidays when I go to Hong Kong end of this year and Australia next mid year!!

A Elmo romper outfit with a Elmo hood from Universal Studio Japan! So cute!

My Hip Hop first-own Adidas sneakers! YO!

Very pretty hair band! Mommy bought it so that i can wear it to Yiyi Gerene's wedding!

Mommy bought hair accessories for my friend Elizabeth Goh too! She has very long hair!!! Envy. Sobs.

And many very beautiful hair clips!!!

Are you jealous or what!

Actually.

Its not that i Hao Lian.

Its... you Kay Po.

My first mooncake festival

My mom is crazy about mooncakes.

It doesnt have to be those chocolate truffles sort or those laced with alcohol.

She eats ANY mooncake..so long its not those rock hard yucky type from those confectionery under the block.

Naturally, Mommy was excited about my first mooncake festival.

Two years ago, she spent it with Daddy, Alvin and Benson in Melbourne taking their wedding photo shoot!

Two year later, and here I am!

Next year, I would be able to carry a lantern on my own!!!

will you buy me one???

Mommy tried to organise a little home party with her "bestest of friends" but they were not free.

Nonetheless, she arranged for a heart warming steamboat dinner with both my Daddy's and Mommy's family.

Mommy bought 2 huge pomelo, mooncakes and decorated the house with lanterns!

YiYi Eunice says...when the east meets west!

So pretty!!!

Yummy stuff!

A few days before the celebrations, Yiyi Gerene came to visit me too! We lit lanterns, hang it on the laundry pole and sat at the balcony.

They forced me to wear the beary hairband. It made Yiyi Gerene very happy.

I wished Goldilock would save me.

SPECIAL ISSUE!!!

My blog reached a record high of more than 100 over hits in my absence of 10 days.

Not a big deal compared to the millions of famous bloggers, but its worth a brag of my humble little blog, to my friends in kindergarden next time.

I offer my Dad to post his insurance agency recruitment advert on my blog and charge him at about 10cents per pixel.

That could pay for a lot of my ice cream treats in future without begging Mommy for it.

Im still in admist of discussing the terms and details with Dad. Its gonna be a win-win.

Oh.... Im a business woman.

It runs in the blood.

And so, for those who wait...here is a little eye candy for you :)

Im on the cover of FHM magazine and its a Special edition actually. Its merely released today and realiable sources said that it has all been snapped up within a few hours.

Please google CNA.com for details.

But!

Just for those who loves me, i shall post a few of my pictures, which were flawless and need no photoshop.

And also the saucy interview of me being the "HOTTEST CHICK" of 2008.

Am I hot or what?!?

The interview

Reporter : So, how do you feel being the cover girl of the September Special issue at such tender age?

Gwenneth (sounds more hot) : Im happy. Those pouty lips brings out the best in me. They always work when I feel a little hungry and milk appears almost immediately.

Reporter: Other than your lips?

Gwenneth : Oh..those perky butt. My Mom says I better not take after hers. I have just a bit... i mean, just a tiny little bit... of cellulite on both my thighs...but i guess they will go away when i start to learn to walk, run and dance.

Reporter: Hows life going for you now?

Gwenneth : Great! Daddy and Mommy said that im a lucky and blessed little girl. I was born healthy with plenty of love and that is all that matters in life... Healthy and happy...isnt it?

Reporter : So, tell us! Are you taken?

Gwenneth: *Blushes* Mommy says Im still young and should make plenty of friends of both gender and enjoy my childhood... Boyfriends can wait... Though I already have a few waiting and one, Mr Lim,who is very mesmerized by me, the moment I was wheeled to my Mommy's ward 604. *Blushes again*

My "2months-turning-3months" routine

Alright.

I'll blog.

Miss me right???

and of course i will blog about my splendid stay in Paradise Hougang.

Before i was born, Mommy read this book by Jools Oliver, (wife of the famous Jamie Oliver).

Its her little journal of her pregnancy with 2 of her gorgeous girls, Poppy and Daisy. (one after another almost immediately)

She wrote about her attempts to "train" her baby into sleeping throughout the night.

Its a lovely book. Mommy read it 3 times!

If you are already a "Mommy", you will know about this book, THE CONTENTED BABY by Gina Ford.

At Kinokuniya, in my beloved Daddy's arms.

Mommy has heard of many negative reviews that Gina Ford's method were a little too harsh and rigid for a newborn infant who needs plenty of love. In this book, the routines were so strict that its almost down to the very specific timing that u have to draw the curtains to "make the baby sleep" and "no eye contact" with the baby while giving her the last feed before bedtime.

But people who diligently tried her method really swore by it that their babies have a routine and somehow make their little lives a little more predictable and less insecure.

Mommy bought the book too when i was about 2 months old, hoping that we would all benefit from it.

She read through it and couldnt really bear to do it. She took some of the advices though, like making sure that the room is dark when I couldnt get into deep sleep and become cranky.

This way, I learn that a dark room means that I can safely dift off to sleep and Mommy will come to pick me up when i stir, and then feed me milk without fail!

Mommy thought that it was too cruel to "train" a innocent sweet young thing like me. (I added those description myself)

So she delayed and put off this routine thingy time and again....

Honestly, its because she cant wake up at 6am lah!

Lets take a brief look at the INFAMOUS routine.

7am

  • baby should be awake, nappy changed and fed no longer than 7am

  • do not feed after 7.45am, as it will put him off his next feed. He can stay awake for up to 2 hours.

8am

  • have your breakfast and drink by 8am.

  • wash and dress baby

8.50am

  • check his nappy and draw sheet, close the curtains

9am

  • settle the drowsy baby, half swaddled and in the dark room with door shut, no later than 9am

  • he needs a sleep of no longer than 45mins

  • wash and sterilise bottles

9.45am

  • open the curtains and unswaddle baby so that he can wake up naturally

10am

  • baby must be fully awake, regardless how long he slept

  • encourage him to have a good kick under his playgym

10.45am

  • feed while you have a large glass of water

  • do not feed after 11.30am, as it will put him off his next feed

11.30am

  • if baby was very alert and awake during the previous 2 hours, he may start to get tired by 11.30am and would need to be in bed by 11.45am

11.45am

  • regardless of what he has done earlier, he should now be taken to his room

  • change his nappy

  • close the curtain and settle baby, swaddled and in the dark room with door shut, no later than 12 noon

12 noon

  • have lunch and take a rest

2.30pm

  • baby needs a nap no longer than 2 and a half hours

  • baby must be awake and fed no later than 2.30pm regardless how long he has slept

  • open curtains and wake him naturally. change nappy

  • do not feed after 3.15pm as it will put him off his next feed

  • its is very important that he is fully awake now till 4.30pm so that he goes down well at 7pm

  • if he was very alert in the morning, he may be more sleepy now. do not put too many clothes on him as extra warmth will make him drowsy

  • lay him on a playmat and encourage jhim to have a good kick

4.15pm

  • change his nappy and offer him a drink of cool boiled water

  • this is a good time to take him for a walk to ensure that hhe sleeps well and is refreshed for his bath and next feed.

5pm

  • baby must be fully awake now

  • feed baby

5.30pm

  • allow him a good kick without nappy while preparing things needed for his bath

5.45pm

  • he must start his bath no later than 5.45pm and be massaged and dressed by 6.15pm

6.15pm

  • feed no later than 6.15pm and this should be done in the nursery with dim lights and no talkin or eye contact
  • it is very important that baby is in bed 2 hours from whenhe last woke

7pm

  • when he becomes drowsy, settle him fully swaddled and in the dark, with the door shut, no later than 7pm
  • if her doesnt not settle within 10-15mins, offer him 10mins from the fullest breast. Do this in the dark with no talking or eye contact.

8pm

  • it is very important that you have a very good dinner and rest

9.45pm

  • turn the lights on fully and wake up baby naturally. Allow at least 10 mins before feeding to ensure that he is fully awake, so that he can feed well
  • feed baby and chnage diapers
  • dim the lights and no talking or eye contact
  • this should not take longer than 1 hour

After some weeks, baby should be able to sleep throughout the night and wake up at 6am the next day according to the book.

When i was 2 months odd, i miracly skip a feed in the middle of the night..that means i went without milk for a 6 hours stretch! Mommy was surprised and credit that to the full feed she gave me the night before.

Mommy figured out from the book that if Baby Tan gets all her nutrients needed during the day and has a big feed before bedtime with clean diapers and warm blankie, i MAY sleep till the birds chirps in the early morning.

Sometimes, I still wake up and interrupt Mommy's sleep and ask for my milk milk... But Mommy never gets frustrated nor annoyed cause she believed that Im genuinely hungry and cuddle me with plenty of love as she feed me.

I will then drift back to sleep independently with my Daddy's melodious snores...

So i adopted my very own little schedule and Mommy wrote it all down so that I can still have my familiar routine at my Por Por's place.

My Por Por who is super nice, recorded down my sleep pattern at night, so that Mommy would do appropriate adjustments as i grow!

But Mommy still reluctant to wake up at 8am!

Lazybones!!!

See what Mommy did to my hair!

There is always this debate of whether you should shave off your baby's hair.

It usually happens at the first month party and then another during the 4th month since birth.

My Mommy and Daddy had their hair shaven off when they were babies, in the light that their hair will grow neatly, nicely and hopefully more lucious.

However, there were also examples of babies with beautiful hair and they have not shaven it since birth.

So how?

Mommy adopted the "see-how-it-goes" plan.

She suggested to my Ah ma that they snip a bit of my hair as a formality during the first month celebration.

Then, as time goes by, there were more and more conflicting TO CUT and NOT TO CUT advices.

Mommy thought that she can, maybe, shave of a little portion of my hair and see if my hair really does grow faster.

Generally I have pretty healthy hair, just perhaps, very fine... Baby hair: )

At birth, I also have this "swirl" (whatever you call it) right smack near my forehead. I have another one at the spot where every other babies have it, at the top back of the head.

Its like something special about me that amuses many, but how is my fringe going to grow in future???

Mommy thought of Wilma Flintstone , the moment she saw it.

My future side profile.

Hi everyone, Im Gwenneth Tan.

So, back to the shaving hair issue.

Mommy chose a spot with the least opp cost (opportunity cost) and shaved it with a new disposable razor, which she happily took home from her hotel stay during her honeymoon.

and see what happens!

She guilty confessed to Daddy of her little experiment and Daddy laughed at my horrible bald spot.

Till date, for your information, it hasn't grown much.

Mommy whispered remorsefully into my ears... "Poor thing".

Mommy wears my name, close to her heart.

Sometime after I was born, Mommy designed a pendant on her own, bearing, ahemm, my beautiful name.

Gwen.

She was toying with the idea of either doing a pendant with a bare surface so that she can engrave my name on it, or do a name necklace, spelling out "g.w.e.n"

She then went on to google on different fonts and eventually decided on sketching it free hand, her very own handwriting, (with a personal touch) of my name as a name pendant.

Mommy searched for a goldsmith who is confident of making her idea materialise, and Daddy gladly paid for it and even suggested that Mommy should rim the whole name with diamonds.

Mommy tot that it would look too "Puff Daddy" and tone it down to 5 tiny diamonds on the initial "G" instead.

Mommy made a trip to the shop to take a look at the pendant before the raw white gold is polished and the diamonds are set.

BEHOLD!!!

Nice or not???

Luckily the whole project of making it, took merely a week.

If you know my Mommy well, she is the sort who cannot contain her excitement for nuts.

can you spot the Chio Chio necklace??

Mommy love it to the bits!

Just like the way she loves me! (and Daddy)

Elizabeth Khoo's Birthday party!!!

My little friend Elizabeth's birthday falls on a day before my Daddy's.

We were invited to her 2nd birthday party!

Mommy and Daddy and attended her full month, and also 1st birthday party... this birthday party was extra special because they now have me and its the 3 of us going to celebrate her little special day!

Mommy went shopping a week ago for her present... here is what we got for her!!!

Mommy's handmade card.

Mommy told me she will buy me birkies too when I turn 2 as that was the smallest size available. She will also get Daddy to buy her a pair of matching birkies as mine then!!!

Here I am, dressed to the nines... in my new "Chateau de sable" outfit!

Im growing out of outfits meant for 0-3mths!

"Am I pretty?"

Mommy and I took some pictures while waiting for Daddy to shower. He just came back from his Sunday soccer game.

Mommy loves me!

It was raining and Mommy put on my little pokka dot midriff cardigan.

Which i try to chew... yummy!

Mommy loves everything pokka dots for me.

Here is the birthday princess! She loves her new present from us! Elizabeth unstrapped her shoes immediately on her own, as her Mommy was untying the ribbons and revealed a pair of new sandles!

she put them on excitedly anyway, even thou they were slightly too big!

Lizzie Khoo and her gorgeous Mommy!

She blew out the candles immediately after it was lighted up! So cute!

Daddy trying to pacify me when everyone else was singing the birthday song...

The squirmy worm.

Inconsolable.

Still crying...

Mom~ you preparing milk?

Is my milk warmed up in the bottle already?

Daddy comforts...

Mommy! Milk leh!!!

I make new friends

After that, Daddy and Mommy brought me to Raffles City to drop the pen off for engraving , which Mommy bought for Daddy as his birthday present.

Mommy take pictures again, while the maid changes my diapers.

Mommy, can you put the pacifier back into my mouth first???

Daddy and I, with clean diapers!

I was cranky at the toys department.

Mommy hugged me and walked around, distracting me with colourful stuffed toys while Daddy read up on the boxes of educational toys seriously.

Finally, after discussing with Mommy among a couple of toys, Daddy decided to get me this "LittleTouch LeaPad"

Daddy thought it was totally cool and its definately worth every cent!

It is operated by a cartridge and a book that comes along with it for every title that is sold separately.

Daddy bought me "Baby's first words" for a start!

All I have to do, is to press on the words with my tiny fingers and the LeapPad will read out the word aloud for me!It also prompt me to do actions with my body too, as i play along with Daddy and Mommy.

Cool huh!!

Daddy, you are awwwwwesome!!!

It's feeding time!! * Pout Pout *
