A guided tour of my CUPCAKE inspired room

If you have been to my house since May, you would have already seen my little room :)

Daddy and Mommy converted their Olive green guest room to a nursery for ME!!!!

First of all, Mommy had to give away the Sealy Queen size bed as there for no room for practically anything else with a huge bed in the room!

she also removed the 2 bedside tables into the study room which now holds her scrapbooking materials and the printer.

My fickle minded Mommy took a really long time to decide between lilac or pink for the walls of my room.

She almost already decided on a shade of purple for the longest time and actually changed her mind at an instant when she was at the hardware shop!!!

And so PINK it is, but which shade of pink?

and that took another 20 mins.

Mommy would always like this particular colour, and then ponder for a long while if she should choose another and "what if" she has choosen the other colour.

In such situations, Daddy knows how to handle best. He would guess my Mommy's ACTUAL preference and convince her that her choice was right. But if the look on Mommy's face was doubtful and Mommy says things like..."but i like this colour very much also leh..." then Daddy would say "ok, we take this then!" and Mommy would beam with a smile.

Daddy would usually shake his head to the saleman.

Daddy, Mommy knows k.

And so, we fixed a date on Labour Day public holiday to paint the room in 2 shades of pink!

A darker pink (POSH PINK) on one wall and a pale pink (BARELY PINK) for the rest of the room.

Then, Mommy's fickle trait repeats.

She made a late night call to my YiYi Eunice and ask of her opinion if the room would look good with a upside down semi-circle drape painted in dark pink.

"think curtain, ice cream parlour or cupcake."

And its a YES.

The lovely and awesome people involved included my YI YI Eunice, my Grand papa, my Daddy, Cikcik Yani and my Mommy clicking away with her camera and doing bossy supervisory work.

Its a taboo for preggy woman to paint the house. But Mommy wanted my room to be perfect. so she stayed in the house and watched them paint, which she sorely regrets.

I was born healthy and well with no visible birthmarks but i do have a little pinkish patch, the size of a 10 cent coin at the back of my neck. Not sure if its a birth mark yet.

Mommy swore that she will NEVER do it again and risk playing a deaf ear to any myth.

Here is my room painting day!

Firstly, Daddy drew the outline of the semi circles with a ikea pencil (the only pencil found in the WHOLE HOUSE) with the lid of a steamboat cooker!

Everyone gets busy.

Work in progress...

MyYiyi painstakingly paints, taking note of all small details. Love you Yiyi!

Yiyi does quality control of her own work.

Yiyi loves giraffes for a reason...she hopes for a longer neck.

...Or perhaps just a higher stool will do.

Yiyi left her "been here painting" foot prints on the white stool.

Almost done!

and... tadah!

My room! Complete with a convertible bed Daddy splurge $1300 on, and a row of ikea bin shelves Mommy grabbed from an Ikea sale.

Full of my nonsense.

My library...

A scrapbook piece Yiyi did for me for my 1st month present!

My tiny shoes in a cookie jar...

That was taken when i was merely a few days old... Auntie Gerene bought me baby clay to make a momento of my footprint! so sweet of her! thank u!!!

Mommy is a sucker for these sort of things...

And the pillow was hand stitched by Mommy during her pregnancy and was her first present for me!... See my name on it??

Oh! i love my little room!

However, i spend very little time in my room... only for very short naps in the day...coz I usually fall asleep on my pink bouncer or my high chair...

And this is where i sleep at night...

My Papa and Mama's room!

Mommy says its the safest place in the world and they will protect me throughout the night.

My cot close to Mommy... She is a light sleeper and wakes up with my softest snuffles...

Here is a closer look at my cot littered with my things!

I have toys, blankies, muslins, Monkkie, tissue, fresh clothes and pyjamas, mittens, beanie, cotton wool etc

Usually, Mommy will give me my last feed by bottle and tuck me into bed in my cot. She believes that i should learn to fall asleep on my own independently.

By sometimes, Daddy and Mommy would spoil me with love n cuddles and allow me to sleep in between them. The good thing is that, they will shove the pacify right back into my mouth, at the instance i drop it and start to frown!

Its Gwenneth's place everywhere!
